Our tie-up vests are reversible tops for women, made the slow way in our Vadodara studio. Each one is a sleeveless tie-up top that doubles as a women's waistcoat, cut from upcycled saris and Indian handloom cotton that already had a life. Nothing new is woven for us, so every vest carries a print or a weave you will not find on a shop rail.
Every vest is free size, with adjustable side ties instead of buttons or zips, so one size fits most and the fit is yours to set. Tie the side ties close and the vest sits like a fitted cotton waistcoat over a dress; leave them loose and it falls like an open layer over a kurta, a shirt or a plain tee. Because the fit adjusts with the ties, a side tie vest suits more bodies than a sized one, and keeps fitting as you change.
Each cotton reversible vest wears two ways. Turn it out for a block print one day and a check, a stripe or a solid the next, so one reversible cotton top gives you two looks and one small wardrobe goes further. The fabric is soft, breathable cotton, light enough for an Indian summer and easy to layer in winter.
The aangiyas in this collection are the festive cousins: an Indian ethnic vest for women cut from silk sari borders and zari, made for weddings, Navratri and Diwali. Wear one over a plain kurta or a dress and the border does the dressing up for you.
Every handmade vest is stitched one at a time by our tailors in Vadodara, Gujarat. We cut from fabric that already had a life, keep our offcuts for the next piece and make no more than two of any design, so what you buy is close to one of a kind. This is what slow, sustainable fashion in India means to us: fewer pieces, made well, worn for years.
Delivery is free across India on orders of 1,499 rupees and above, and every piece is packed by hand. If you are between choices or want to know how a vest will fit you, message us on WhatsApp and we will reply the same day.
